Here you will find background information on the comics produced by Editorial Bruguera of Spain and you will also be able to purchase them via the sales catalogue and shopping cart.
There were 24 titles published in English between 1977 and 1979. But that is a very small number when measured against the 226 titles published in Spanish and entitled Joyas Literarias Juveniles. The Spanish series ran for ten years through to 1980 and was distributed throughout Latin America. They were also issued in Denmark, Norway, Holland and West Germany. The Spanish series produced 42 titles by Jules Verne, 25 by Emilio Salgari and 18 by Karl May. It would be really nice to have some of the Spanish titles available in English such as R.M. Ballantyne’s Coral Island, Enrique Sienkiewicz’ Quo Vadis and Charles Dickens’ Little Dorritt. Alas, we have only two that were published in English that didn’t appear in the more famous Classics Illustrated series (see www.classicsillustrated.co.uk ) - Five Weeks in a Balloon by Verne and a biography on the life of Lawrence of Arabia - both available here. They are very nice comic books - in full colour with bright, glossy pages and superb covers - they are available at very good prices and provide alternative adaptations to other series - I am sure you will find them to be very appealing.
